Every Blog I Write

Why Bother Starting Out?

Starting Out

Every blog I write begins with an idea in my head and a blank page. Then, the abstract and intangible become words that create sentences and the sentences become paragraphs and finally, the blank page is filled with a concrete and complete concept.

Blogging was not my idea, rather a suggestion made to me by my friend, Jenny. Jenny is a writer who knows more than I do about writing books and about the business of being an author. She understands that once you publish a book the work you thought was behind you is actually in front of you.

Consequently, before my book was even published, she told me, “You need to be visible to your readers.” She went on to say that blogging builds an audience of people who will get to know me. As they get to know me, they’ll be able to relate to me. The more they can relate to me, the more they will want to read what I write.

Therefore, four years ago I committed to blogging three times a week. I limit my words to  400-500 per blog. And as of today, I’ve written more than 624 blogs.

If you are reading my blog post today, you can also look back at other blogs I wrote in this same month from the previous years of 2023, 2022, and 2021. Like looking at old photographs, reading previous blogs tell you where I’ve journeyed  from.

My purpose and aim for blogging has always been to encourage and inspire my audience as well as to stir up a new way of thinking about the ordinary things we think about.

I am grateful whenever any of you write a comment back to me because then I know that someone is not only reading what I’ve said, but they’ve gone a step further to let me know that what I’ve said has somehow made a difference for them.

Why Bother?

Why bother starting out? When I started out four years ago with a website and a regular blog, I had no idea what the outcome would be. But from this endeavor I’ve learned that even though I sometimes worry about where my idea for my next blog will come from, I remember the story of God’s faithful and daily provision of manna to the Israelites while they wandered for forty years in the desert. I stop worrying about what might be next when I rely on God, my Provider.

P.S.  I wrote the story of my journey to forgiveness for those who want to know that accepting the love that God wants to give us changes everything about us. You can find A Heart’s Journey To Forgiveness at Redemption Press and Amazon.
