Blessed With Faith

During the month of August, my blogs focused on blessings. The phrase, “Blessings all mine and ten thousands beside,” from the old hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness, ignited my inspiration to write about blessings. 

The author of those words, Thomas O. Chisholm made me think of all the goodness I experience in everyday, ordinary life that I believe originates from God.  

One of my blogs was titled “Blessed by Faith.” The last blog for this month is titled “Blessed With Faith.” 

Being blessed by faith is receiving, accepting and believing the life-giving gift God offers to anyone and everyone. 

One summer, while attending Vacation Bible School as an eight-year-old, my husband accepted the life-giving gift God offered him. 

In my early twenties, on the verge of ending my life, I heard God say, “You can choose life.” I did.

God, the Giver of the life-giving gift gives everyone the opportunity to believe, receive, and accept the gift. 

The gift is the same for everyone, but given at different times and in different ways. No two stories are the same. But the life-giving gift is the same. It is life giving. 

Being blessed with faith is confidence in the Giver of the gift. 

As with all relationships, trust and reliance gain momentum in a relationship as we join our lives more and more with the life of the other person. 

As it is with other people, so it is with God. The more we accept the components of the life-giving gift: love, joy, peace, and patience to name just a few, the greater our confidence becomes in the Giver of the gift. 

Why Bother?

Why bother being blessed with faith? Being blessed with faith is knowing God is worth our trust. Being blessed by faith is believing, and receiving the life-giving gift He offers. May your faith be blessed with by and with.
